The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Adviser to join our Clients and Markets team in Brisbane on a full time basis.

This busy and varied role will see you provide professional support to our Brisbane Partners in the development and implementation of client and business development plans and associated activities. This support takes the form of tender and proposal preparation and management, research, analysis, writing and preparation of other client communications and strategy development for profiling initiatives including seminars and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and project manage tender/proposal submissions and monitor new business and tender opportunities
  • Prepare marketing collateral (including capability statements, client and industry presentations)
  • Support partners to drive business development initiatives including business forums and industry events
  • Develop and maintain account plans and assist with the achievement of account objectives as well as reporting
  • Understand nominated clients, their businesses and the markets in which they operate
  • Preparing proposal writing/presentations for clients
  • Assist with the client experience program which may include research, involvement in client briefings, reviews, events and relationship meetings as appropriate
  • Analyse general market, industry specific, competitor and prospective client research in support of business development initiatives
  • Participate in various national and department-based Clients and Markets projects designed to achieve more effective and consistent practices and processes
  • Develop profile and credibility with internal clients (i.e. partners, lawyers and support staff), actively promoting the Clients and Markets function, its expertise and capabilities
  • Attend client events and seminars
  • Other ad-hoc activities as required by the Business Development Manager

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline marketing or law highly regarded
  • Minimum four years marketing, business development, communications or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience with tenders/proposals in a professional services environment or government - strategy, writing and project management (highly regarded)
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral with exceptionally strong attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder management and project management skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office and a sound understanding of databases (InterAction an advantage)
  • Energy, drive, resilience and a sense of urgency and commitment that will enable you to guide and influence decision making as well as organise and manage business development project activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Curious with a genuine desire and commitment to going beyond delivery, including knowledge and skills development, participation in practice group, client and firm initiatives and in building and maintaining a strong personal profile in the Queensland market.

The Clients and Markets (Business Development) team

The Clients and Markets team is responsible for advising and providing services to the business on practice group and client development opportunities. This includes the full spectrum of the marketing mix from bid management and opportunity identification to client relationship management and the development of tailored marketing materials. It also includes an active role in event management, client, market and industry research and analysis, media and corporate affairs, legal communications and branding and design.
