We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Development Manager to join our high performing Business Development and Marketing (BDM) team in Sydney.
Sparke Helmore has had a relentless focus on the insurance sector for over 130 years. Insurance is fundamental to our identity and we are widely recognised by the market as being the preeminent insurance law firm in Australia.
This pivotal role will work closely with the Commercial Insurance National Practice Group Leader and other partners within the Group and report to the Business Development & Marketing Director.
Key responsibilities include
This is a client-facing, hands-on role and requires excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, written and verbal communication, financial literacy and numeracy as well as outstanding project management skills. The role requires a deep understanding of the insurance industry. The majority of clients of the Group are large, sophisticated users of legal services, have stringent compliance requirements and demand advanced KPI reporting.
What it takes to be successful in this role
We’re looking for someone who has an uncommonly high dose of common sense, thinks strategically, and takes ownership of their work. You will need at least 8+years’ experience in business development, key client account management, a proven track record in strategy development and implementation and the ability to lead a strong team who deliver exceptional results. You will have gained this experience in a law firm, consultancy or a professional services environment. Deep insurance industry expertise is also a pre requisite for this position.
This role will also be a senior member of the Business Development & Marketing team, of a collaborative mind-set and used to working for the collective good of a team as well as across the firm. The successful individual will be keen to lead and support projects and initiatives across the team, to ensure best practice is embedded and prioritised for the good of the firm.
